What stayed with audiences and critics above all was the impressive revolving glass house at the centre of the production. Within this set, the story of three generations of the same family unfolded. The house remained unchanged while time passed by around it. In this way it became a powerful image of how family histories, memories and secrets are handed down from one generation to the next. 

Together with Simon Stone's swift, cinematic directing style and a large ensemble cast, this made for a production that made a deep impression at home and abroad. Ibsen House played at international festivals and in theatres throughout Europe, including the Festival d'Avignon, the Schaubühne in Berlin and Toneelhuis in Antwerp. The production attracted a great deal of international press attention and once again confirmed Toneelgroep Amsterdam's strong position on the international stage. 

With actors such as Hans Kesting, Maria Kraakman, Janni Goslinga and Maarten Heijmans, the company also showed what it is known for: strong ensemble theatre in which great stories are told by an exceptional group of actors.
