This is The Bookshop. An open space of many voices in the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, right on Leidseplein, where the city meets its makers, thinkers and performers. A place to experiment, and a place with room for doubt and for depth. Whether you're stepping into the theatre for the first time or have been coming here for years: you're welcome, and you're seen.
Making room for makers, performers and voices
It's no accident that The Bookshop sits in this particular corner of the building. This was once the entrance for the city's poorer visitors, who were sent up separate staircases to the cheapest seats in the highest balconies, kept apart from the wealthy. That history is still built into the architecture. Which is exactly why this is the place to question it and to make room for makers, performers and voices that might otherwise go unheard.

BIGG THINGS FOR THE LITTLE ONES
There's plenty for children at The Bookshop too. At The Bookshop Kids, young bookworms come to hear the finest stories, often read aloud by ITA actors. There's all the room they need to act, dress up and let their imagination run.
Curious explorers can join The Bookshop Kids Tour: an adventure through the Stadsschouwburg, past hidden corners and remarkable stories, opening doors that normally stay shut. What have you always wanted to know about the theatre?
