Winti plays an increasingly important role in QUANZA’s music. With his guitar, he explores the history hidden within the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. He looks at the people who once entered the building through different doors: wealthy Amsterdammers through the main entrance, workers through a separate entrance leading to the cheapest seats.
Those separate entrances no longer exist. But the question of who gets access to which spaces is still relevant today. In Nosebleed Blues, QUANZA brings that history into the present. Through guitar, percussion and dance, he lets past and present resonate with one another.
Radical Space in The Bookshop
The Bookshop was once the entrance to the cheapest seats at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. Ordinary people entered here, separated from wealthy Amsterdammers, mayors and members of the nobility who used the main entrance.
That class divide is no longer visible in the building today. But differences in wealth, power and access have not disappeared. In Radical Space, artists explore how this history continues to shape the present. Through performances and conversations, they examine class and inequality, then and now.
